Attracting Beneficial Insects and Animals
Attracting beneficial insects and animals into your growing area will help with pollination and with pest control.
Allow some annual vegetables to flower.
Plants such as comfrey and borage will attract insects especially bees.
Perennials such as chives and comfrey also play an important role in attracting insects.
Provide water in some form such as leaving an area which will form a puddle or make a pond but remember to have escape routes. Even insects such as bees need water to survive. Provide a shallow dish with stones in so bees can drink. A dish with glass pebbles used in flower arranging looks good too.
Allow some areas of grass to grow to let clover, daisies and dandelions flower.
Make bug and bee hotels.
Bees love the chive flowers
