Crop rotation and companion are important tools in a sustainable garden. They will lesson the chance of disease and the crops being affected by pests.

Growing the same crops in the same place can encourage diseases and pest attack. It also depletes the soil. However, growing some crops such as legume roots will give you nitrogen rich soil which you can then take advantage of by growing brassicas the following year.
